About
A place, not a faceless entity.
TAPCAVE is named after the workshop where the real work happens. It's a deliberate choice — not a brand, not an acronym, not a logo a committee approved. A place where things get built and fixed.
The model
There is no account manager between you and the person doing the work. No intake coordinator, no escalation path, no tier-one support reading from a script. When you describe a problem, the person you're talking to is the person who will solve it.
That's the model. It's deliberately small. Big MSPs exist for companies that need scale. TAPCAVE exists for companies that need quality — and want to deal with a human being.
The clients
Mostly small to mid-size manufacturing and industrial companies. Shops with real operations — CNC floors, production lines, physical product — and either no IT department or one person wearing too many hats.
Also: security-conscious small businesses and home users who are tired of their router being someone else's product.
What We Actually Believe
Open systems over vendor lock-in
The platforms we recommend work because they're the right tool — not because there's a reseller margin attached. We don't have preferred vendor relationships. We have opinions about what runs reliably.
Quality hardware, built to last
Buy once, cry once. The cheapest option usually isn't — it fails at the worst time, it doesn't have ECC RAM, its firmware hasn't been updated since 2019. We spec for uptime and longevity, not lowest line-item cost.
Complete documentation
When a project is done, you have full documentation. Network diagrams, runbooks, access credentials in your password manager, change logs. The goal is that you don't need us to keep the lights on.
Design-led, not order-taking
If you come in with a solution already decided, we'll tell you if it's the wrong one. The job is to help you build the right thing, not to execute whatever a manager Googled on a Tuesday.
Where We're Coming From
The technology industry spent the last decade trying to abstract everything into services you rent, platforms you don't control, and infrastructure that requires a vendor's permission to operate. Meanwhile, the tools to own your own stack — Proxmox, TrueNAS, pfSense, Linux — got dramatically better and dramatically more accessible.
Most small businesses don't know this. They're paying for cloud resources they don't need, running on consumer hardware they've outgrown, and locked into contracts for software they half-use. TAPCAVE exists to close that gap.
No AI buzzwords. No digital transformation roadmaps. Just infrastructure that works, networks you understand, and someone who answers the phone when something breaks.
